What Now Las Vegas reported in January 2021 on a “total culinary and architectural transformation” planned for the property at 5599 Spring Mountain Rd. That project, from restaurateur Freddy Hwang’s Sapporo Restaurant Group, is still in the works, planning to open a third outpost of Sapporo’s all-you-can-eat chain Master Kim’s Korean BBQ, along with a Japanese fried chicken restaurant and a karaoke space.

There’s big money on the table. Paperwork recently filed with Clark County for the property estimated construction budgets of $665,000 and $633,000 for Master Kim’s and the unnamed karaoke restaurant project, respectively.

Hwang confirmed with What Now Las Vegas on Monday that the project is still in progress, citing delays due to shortages in labor and supplies, a familiar story as effects of the COVID-19 pandemic continue to be felt ubiquitously. Hwang said an opening was expected in about six months, which points to a Summer 2022 opening for the culinary plaza.

Details pertaining to the karaoke restaurant project remain unavailable (Hwang said the restaurant has still not been officially named), but Master Kim’s can be expected to offer a similar menu of AYCE Korean BBQ to those of its other two locations. The current menu comes in three all-you-can-eat tiers, one priced at $27.95, the second at $31.95, and the third at $36.95. Featured cuts of beef include Black Angus LA Kalbi and Black Angus Salted Beef Boneless Spare Ribs, along with cuts of pork like pork belly and shoulder, and various chicken and seafood options.

With any luck, guests will be able to spend a night of delicious fun on the property by July or August of this year.
