Chef Ricky Komorida, the culinary force behind Shokku Ramen, appears to be attached to a new bakery project planned for the southwest corner of the intersection between Blue Diamond Rd and S Decatur Blvd. Permit paperwork recently filed with Clark County for “Ricky’s Bakery” mentions the chef by name, estimating a construction budget of $300,000.

With locations in Chinatown, as well as in Nashville and Houston, Shokku Ramen offers a build-your-own ramen experience, with guests choosing from broths like Miso, Tonkotsu, and Kazi; proteins like chicken, pork, and tofu; and a number of toppings, including bok choy, bean sprouts and kimchi. Guests also choose their spiciness level, which ranges from I’ll Pass to the terrifying Shinigami.

Shokku is in fact the home of Las Vegas’s spiciest ramen, offering the Shinigami Challenge: guests who can finish a 4-million Scoville bowl of Shinigami Ramen, with 24 oz of tonkotsu broth and more than three pounds of noodles and toppings within 8 minutes receive their meal for free and make it onto the Wall of Warriors. The challenge is daunting enough that challengers must sign a waiver before participating.

For the chef behind this most dangerous bowl of ramen, a bakery project might seem like quite a departure, but for the moment no further details are available. The site named for the project is part of a cluster of dining locations on either side of Blue Diamond Rd, just west of the Decatur intersection. These include Mountain West Eatery, The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill, and Bella Vita.

What Now Las Vegas was unable to reach Chef Komorida for comment.
