“Disneyland for Adults” Distillery & Tour Lost Spirits to Open August 15

Described as a “Disneyland for liquor” by WIRED, Lost Spirits Distillery will open at Area15 in Las Vegas’ Arts District on August 15.

Lost Sprits Las Vegas is a new take on the original distillery in Los Angeles, which wowed visitors with its tours, art, and overall splendor.

Descriptions of the experience already abound online and tend to be colored by both outlandish details (“Twenty Thousand Leagues the Sea tasting room”; “faux-aquatic fantasia of fish with human faces”) and a spoiler-shy wish to preserve the experience for future visitors. By May 2020, Lost Spirits had already collected $2.2 million in subscriptions.

The brainchild of inventor and CEO Bryan Davis, the distillery will offer tasting tours (“pregaming and driving is strongly discouraged”) of spirits like its classic Navy Style Rum and Cuban Inspired Anejo Blanco.

Davis shot into fame in the distillery world in 2015, when he patented THEA, a reactor that speeds up the aging of liquor using a process based on the chemical reactions that occur during the barrel aging process.

Lost Spirits is, in other words, a convergence between two different innovations: one in the distilling of spirits, the other in the tasting of them.

Area15, where the distillery is located, is a retail and entertainment complex on S Rancho Drive, one mile west of the strip. It features shops and entertainment like Oz Experience, a VR entertainment center, and Haley’s Comet, a duel-track zipline.
