Priding itself for years on the comprehensiveness of its selection, the toy store is taking having everything to a new level in its fifth location at 505 East Windmill Lane. “We want to make it inviting for the whole family, all day,” Howard said. “You can hang out and shop, with food and the new Rick and Morty episode playing on the TV. A fun, safe place to go with your family.”

It will not be Howard’s first experience with serving food: Brad of Brad’s Toys went to culinary school, after which he briefly owned and operated a food truck, where he developed the menu that will be taken up in the new store.

“I learned very quickly that I did not want to be in a truck. I’m excited to serve food from my menu in a place without such close quarters.”

The location’s kitchen will serve up pressed sandwiches—but not, Brad hastened to point out, run-of-the-mill paninis. “It’s not cold cuts,” he said, listing a chicken parmesan breaded and fried there in the kitchen, grilled chicken, and vegetarian options like eggplant and roasted tomato. Sauces like red pepper aioli, pesto, and marinara will be made on-site.

Howard estimated the price point at around $10, although he mentioned that rising food costs made the shop’s own prices harder to predict.

The location on Windmill Lane abuts China a Go Go and RJ Cigars & Smoke Shop.
