The PT’s Taverns family of brands—which includes PT’s Pub, PT’s Gold, PT’s Ranch, Sean Patrick’s, Sierra Gold, and SG Bar—is approaching its fortieth anniversary. A recent interview with Golden Entertainment SVP Blake Sartini II by the Las Vegas Review-Journal shows that, despite a general belt-tightening atmosphere in the economy, Golden Entertainment has been posting good numbers, reporting $842 million in revenue for the first 9 months of 2022.

That’s a 3.4 percent increase over the first nine months of 2021, and a significant portion of the growth comes from Golden Entertainment’s tavern franchises.

In the interview, Sartini, the son of Golden Entertainment Chairman and CEO Blake Sartini, tells the story of PT’s Taverns. It was originally founded in 1983 by brothers Phil and Tom Boeckle, who grew the brand to more than twenty locations in the Las Vegas Valley. Golden Entertainment acquired them in 2002 and has been growing the brand since.

If you’ve ever wondered the differece is between all these brands—PT’s Ranch, Sean Patrick’s, Sierra Gold, and so on—Sartini answers that question too, using Sean Patrick’s as an example. After acquiring four Irish pubs, Golden Entertainment considered transforming them into PT’s Gold, and then decided otherwise.

“We decided to embrace the motif of the location, and we said, ‘Look, we need an Irish brand in our portfolio. We might as well call it Sean Patrick’s. The same could be said for the PT’s Ranch brand. We had two acquisitions that we did that were very Southwestern themed.”

But here’s the big news: expansion. What Now reported last month that Porchlight Grille, on Desert Inn Road, is headed for a PT’s Gold rebrand. The interview confirms it and adds even more PT’s Taverns expansion. Sartini said four more taverns were soon to be announced, all of which are expected to open in Q4 of 2023 or Q1 of 2024.
