“Las Vegas has long been the center of new gaming experiences, so we’ve planned to open in Las Vegas from the beginning of imagining Velocity,” Executive Chairman Philip Kaplan told What Now in an email conversation on Wednesday afternoon. “In our case, gaming is about not-for-money games like video games, arcade games, esports, bowling, and bar games like shuffleboard and billiards. Our concept is centered around the ideas that people love to play games and do so socially, and that esports offers engaging experiences that transcend place. Our brand promise – Great Games, Great Experience, Great Community.”

Velocity will open in the former GameWorks space, with many of the same team members returning as part of the Velocity Esports team.

“We have expanded the game floor, updated the restaurant and bar and added a social gaming lounge,” Kaplan said. “We will offer the only non-smoking bowling lanes in Las Vegas. And, of course, our signature esports lounge, complemented by online and in-person esports tournaments across a number of popular gaming titles.”

What about the food?

Velocity Esports Las Vegas will offer a full menu of American and Mexican favorites, plus beer, cocktails, and mocktails. The Newport location’s bar & grill offers a selection of snacks and appetizers (perfect for the rush of gaming), plus burgers and handhelds like the Battle Royale BBQ Bacon Burger and The Gamers Cheesesteak. Beers, hard seltzers, cocktails, and mocktails complete the picture.

The brand will make a great addition to Town Square’s vibrant roster of entertainment destinations, which includes nightclub Stoney’s Rockin’ Country, plus food & drink spots like Sickies Garage Burgers & Brews and American restaurant Yard House.

Keep an eye out for this new, innovative entertainment experience coming to Town Square.
