After a delay, the Las Vegas classic Farm Basket is taking steps toward opening its second location, on Nellis Blvd. A second outlet has been in the works for some time—Eater Las Vegas first published coverage of the planned opening in September of last year—but paperwork recently filed with Clark County shows the plan is on its way to becoming reality.

Farm Basket has faced a number of setbacks in its history, owner William Bayne told What Now Las Vegas in a Friday morning phone call. Bayne purchased the chain in 2018 with the express goal of saving it from vanishing.

“Growing up, it was where everybody went,” Bayne said of the restaurant, which first arrived in Las Vegas in 1971, under a different name. Only a few years later did it become the familiar Farm Basket Brand.

“At one point they had [about] twelve units,” Bayne said. Eventually these twelve shrank to a single location on Charleston Blvd. “We didn’t want to see it go down. We love Farm Basket and we’re going to keep it going in the Valley and try to expand it out of the Valley.”

A third location is currently in lease negotiations, Bayne said, with tentative first steps being made towards a fourth.

Farm Basket offers a variety of takes on chicken and turkey, with a menu built in large part around two branded sandwiches—the Clucker Sandwich (fried chicken) and the Gobbler Sandwich (fried turkey)—and chicken-stuffed tacos called Clucketos. The menu also features meals like Chicken and Waffles and the Turkey Steak Dinner, along with a number of fried chicken combos to feed the whole family.

The new location will found at 2340 S Nellis Blvd #150, near the intersection with Sahara Ave. No revised opening date has been announced.
