The building on the northeast corner of South Commerce Street and West Utah Avenue is the planned future location of a new bar. Plans were submitted last month to the Las Vegas Planning Commission for The Dustland Bar, which was proposed for the building at 1429 S Commerce St.

“The Dustland, think of it as your hotel bar,” co-owner Jennifer Taler says in a justification letter submitted to the Commission. “The bar where you meet your friends before you go out, the space you go to hang out and catch up with friends, and/or the bar you end the night at before you head to bed.”
Featuring 2,820 square feet of indoor space plus 4,990 square feet outside, the Dustland plans to offer crafted cocktails, wine, and beer, along with a highly developed mocktail program and low-alcohol drinks. The submitted paperwork envisions The Dustland as kind of meeting space between locals and non-locals, serving as an introduction to the local culture, and featuring live music either indoors or outdoors.
“The Dustland will offer something complimentary to the community in the downtown Gateway district as well as the Arts District,” reads the letter. “It will create more walkability on South Commerce, a bar experience that you don’t typically see within the area as well as higher end design to support the growth and design of the area.”
