The name itself is a fusion with Taverna meaning tavern in Greek and Italian and Costera the Spanish translation of coastal.

Owner Jeff Hwang said they are hoping to be open by late spring.

“We are shooting to be fully operational by May at the latest, though I suspect we will have something open before then,” he said.

Hwang’s dream has always been to have a live entertainment venue and he and Partner Ray Samlow decided that the Las Vegas Arts District, in a hidden rooftop at 1031 S. Main St., would be the perfect spot for the venture.

His vision is to have a fine dining restaurant with a coffee shop that also has a stage for live entertainment. The coffee shop will open early and stay open late with the bar. The bar and coffee shop plan to make good use of the open-air courtyard.

With a rooftop bar featuring live music, coffee from Dragon’s Alley Coffee Co., and a coastal Mediterranean fusion fine dining restaurant, there will be something for everybody at Taverna Costera.

“We look forward to joining the movement in the Arts District and we look forward to opening our doors to customers for coffee, a fine meal, a cocktail, and a show,” Hwang said.
