Opened in 2017 by artists Mami Kanemitsu and Steve Corral (the whole team is made up largely of dancers, photographers, tattoo artists, and other creatives), Ninja Karaoke has been serving Las Vegas’s flourishing artistic community for five years now, holding open mics, dance battles, and art events, with an emphasis on omotenashi, or “thoughtful hospitality.” Ocha Thai Cuisine has been a staple of the Las Vegas Thai community, in operation since 1987, offering excellent service and world-class food.

The project began early this summer, when Ocha owner Bundit Buaban began to look into opening a new Ocha location in Chinatown. As it happened, Ninja Karaoke was embarking on a similar search.

“Ninja Karaoke and Ocha have been building a great relationship as friends and as supporting businesses for each other since the opening of Ninja Karaoke,” Mami Kanemitsu told What Now in an email conversation on Monday. “[Bundit] had the idea to collaborate with Ninja Karaoke, to combine the two businesses to create an amazing experience for all who visit.”

The new tandem location, opening at Pacific Asian Plaza, a well-known Chinatown retail center home to eateries like Sushi Neko and Big Dan Shanxi Taste, will offer a high-level karaoke experience, plus a menu from Ocha’s culinary team.

“We will be serving a fusion of Thai, Japanese, and American food,” Kanemitsu said. “From Ocha’s popular authentic Thai food to fusion pizza to specialty fusion bar food, we will satisfy your late night cravings.”

The karaoke tech is top notch too, featuring HEALSONIC Karaoke Machines run with iPads (meaning no more of those massive song binders!), with a free downloadable app available to view the song list, plus with Youtube accessibility, providing a globe-spanning selection of music. Guests can enjoy a dining experience in the space’s restaurant area, or have food brought directly to individual karaoke rooms.

“We are thankful to become part of this amazing community,” Kanemitsu added. “We appreciate and respect this area for its amazing people, businesses, and history. We will do our best to support our community and make this location one of the coolest spots to hang out at.”
