“Pluto Patisserie is a women-owned, minority-owned business from 3 Vegas locals who love sweets and are total nerds,” founder & CEO Dani Gamutan told What Now Las Vegas in an email conversation on Monday, confirming the news. “Pluto, our mascot, is a shiba astronaut who loves traversing the universe and bringing back unique recipes and ingredients from his travels. We love to include some exotic flavors mixed in with local favorites to allow guests to enjoy something that may be new to them.”

The patisserie—which represents a partnership between Gamutan, founder & executive chef Ceejay Lee, and founder & Lead Astronaut Gebrel Gamutan—serves up a variety of baked goods including cakes, cookies, crème brulee, cream puffs, and more. And like the patisserie itself, these sweets are often given cosmic names: Asteroid Brownies with pecans, walnuts, and almonds; Uranus cookies, Danish Butter with chocolate; and s’mores brownies called the Space Junk Brownies.

The menu also features turons, a dessert from the Philippines with sweet fillings fried in spring roll wrappers, in varieties like Blueberry Cream and Banana Pineapple.

Asked to name her favorite items on the menu, Gamutan answered, “My favorite items are our UV Brownies (taro white chocolate brownies) and Venus Cookies (a rich, dark chocolate, honey, almond cookie).”

Pluto Patisserie is working toward the goal of a securing a commercial space by the end of the year, and is hoping to open its doors in January.
