At the time of its arrival in the US, at a shopping mall in Arcadia, California back in 2013, the chain had 75 locations in China in Singapore. The number of HaiDiLao hot pot restaurants has since exploded to nearly 1,600, with US expansions in Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, and New York.

From the beginning, the restaurant was known for being tech-savvy, with customers ordering hot pot ingredients on iPads, and with some locations offering a “cyber dining room,” rentable for $65 and hour and equipped with video conferencing equipment that allows business-focused diners to conduct video calls while eating.

HaiDiLao remains quirky and service-oriented to this day. The New York location, for example, has provided guests waiting for tables with hand treatments, a children’s play area, and massage chairs, while offering solitary diners Mr. Tomato, a stuffed mascot, to keep them company.

Each table at HaiDiLao comes equipped with four hot pots containing a variety of broths in which customers dip and cook ingredients from the menu. These ingredients include familiar hot pot meats and vegetables along with speciality items like beef tripe, pig brain, squid, and duck feet. Guests can also order ice cream for dessert, while sipping on boba tea.

The restaurant will move into a space in at Resorts World, although its precise location within the resort is unknown at this time.
