“It’s a small thing that I’m launching,” Terrell told What Now Las Vegas in a Friday morning phone call. “I’m excited to get started.”

Terrell’s move into the cake-making trade began with a recipe—caramel apple cake—passed down from her mother. Since then, Kat’s Cakes has expanded its list of offerings to include seven readily-available cake flavors (Chocolate, Vanilla, Red Velvet, Cinnamon, Apple, Cookies ‘n Cream, and Lemon), seven varieties of butter cream (Chocolate, Vanilla, Cookies n Cream, Cinnamon, Caramel, Lemon, Peanut Butter), and at least six different fillings, including Salted Caramel and Peanut Butter.

Fully custom cakes are also available.

“I do a lot of candy-bar-flavored cakes too,” Terrell said. “I like to take ideas that folks and have turn them into fun cakes.”

In addition to fully custom cakes, Kat’s Cakes provides customers with simpler cake templates, with double-layer cakes coming in 6-inch, 8-inch, 10-inch, and 12-inch varieties with add-ons like edible images and cake-toppers. Also available is the Doll Cake, which includes a “full-size Barbie Doll and simple dress design.”

As Kat’s Cakes expands out into the Las Vegas community, Terrell said, its creations will begin to appear at local farmers markets as well.
