Mandalay Bay’s Lupo is expected to close for renovations this August, and, according to recent coverage by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, when it reopens before the end of the year, it will have transformed into a different concept—one with a new look and a new name, but which still offers Italian cuisine.
“They came to us and said, ‘Could we do something different? We want you to stay. We want you to do something new for us,’” Wolfgang Puck Group senior managing partner Thomas Kaplan said in the RJ coverage.
The restaurant’s new name has yet to be revealed, and details on its menu are likewise still unavailable, but Kaplan describes it in the coverage as “something new and exciting and different that’s tied to Wolfgang personally.”
The Lupo name isn’t disappearing, either. As Downtown Summerlin’s Wolfgang Puck Players Locker undergoes a transformation into a “luxury neighborhood restaurant,” it will take on the Lupo name. Players Locker’s renovations are expected to begin soon, with a reopening planned before year’s end there as well.
What Now reached out to Thomas Kaplan this week to inquire about these two projects. Kaplan was not available for comment.
