Move over, Hard Rock Cafe. A new music-themed bar is opening later this year in the Arts District, at 1021 S Main Street—but where similar bar concepts have focused on rock n’ roll, Audio Bar will be all about EDM and Hip Hop.

“We’re a high-energy bar,” Vincent Do, who owns Audio Bar along with Lars Havens, told What Now on Tuesday. “It’s going to be friendly, with a casual dress code, and we’ll never charge a cover, even when we book really great talent.”

The concept harkens back to the old days of the record store, where music lovers (often of the rock n’ roll stripe) would gather to talk bands and albums, compare notes, and share their love of music. Much of that record-shop culture has been lost, and many young EDM and Hip Hop fans may never have experienced it.

“There’s a big gap,” Do said “People will like a song and post it, but nobody says ‘hey I listened to this or that band,’ in person, in a space like a record store. So we want to create a bar for music lovers where you can come and hang out.”

In addition to drinks, Audio Bar will offer casual, largely shareable eats like pizza and wings. There will also be a boozy weekend brunch. Details on the menu are still under wraps, however.

Audio Bar is opening in 2024, although no specific opening date has been yet, said Do.
