Beloved in Las Vegas for its Xiao Long Bao, Shanghai Taste is preparing to expand its footprint in Vegas and beyond. It has a new restaurant opening in Plano, Texas this March, which will be followed by a new location in Las Vegas’s southwest area, at 8060 S Rainbow Blvd, Suite 200F.

In addition to Shanghai Taste’s Xiao Long Bao, of which owner Joe Muscaglione says the restaurant makes 3,000 pieces a day, and its popular Sheng Jian, the second Las Vegas location will also serve up noodle dishes like Shanghai Beef Noodle Soup and Noodles with Scallion Oil and Shanghai Soy Sauce—the same menu, in other words, created by Chef Jimmy Li for the current location. But there’s also a new, unannounced dish coming soon, Muscaglione told What Now on Tuesday.

“For us [the new location] is strategic,” Muscaglione said. “Xiao Long Bao doesn’t travel well, and people come in from all over.”

Shanghai Taste launched in mid-December 2019, just before the chaos of COVID-19 lockdowns began, but the brand came through, and it continues to be hugely popular in Chinatown, where it has a relatively small location, seating under fifty. It’s a model that works, and Muscaglione says the Rainbow Boulevard location will be about the same size.

Las Vegas’s second Shanghai Taste is working toward a soft opening in May, with its Grand Opening planned for June 8. In the meantime, you can follow @shanghai_taste on Instagram to keep up with news of the opening.
