One location mentioned in the RJ coverage, planned for 8975 W Charleston Blvd, turns out to be only the first of several for Handel’s franchisee and Utah native Mandy Trotter, who has contracted with Handel’s to open five Handel’s ice cream shops in northwest Las Vegas.

“When Handel’s came to Utah, my husband and I just fell in love with the ice cream,” Trotter told What Now on Wednesday. “My husband kept asking the owners question after question, and we came to look into it more and more. Eventually, I decided, hey, let’s do it.”

Handel’s homemade ice cream comes in a wide variety of flavors. The selection varies by location and by day, but a few examples include Cinnamon Roll (yellow cake batter ice cream with brown sugar cinnamon ripple) and Midnight Madness (deep, dark chocolate ice cream with Reese’s Peanut Butter® ripple and Peanut Butter Oreo® cookies).

Trotter says her favorite variety is Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownie, and that Jerry Trotter, her husband, swears by Blueberry Cobbler.

Trotter says the Charleston Boulevard location (her southernmost) is projected to open this June and that a second location, in an upcoming development from Dapper Companies currently under construction at the intersection of Centennial and Durango, is expected in January 2024.

“We’re really excited about our territory and the growth that’s coming,” said Trotter. “It’s been a long time getting the right locations and I’m so happy to finally be moving along.”
