Helmed by Lyle Cervenka and Bryant Jane, Battle Born Hospitality is in the early stages of launching its next restaurant concept. Bar Centrál, a neighborhood-style deli and bar, has leased a 5,600 square-foot space in the Huntridge Theater, located at 1208 E Charleston Blvd.

“We wanted to do something that was appropriate for the neighborhood,” Bryant Jane told What Now on Friday. “It’s still a neighborhood spot, in a dense residential area. Our idea was to have something like a little market where you could hang out, have drinks, take food home, take a bottle of wine home.”

Bar Centrál is inspired by both the Argentinian bodegone and the East Coast bodega, and it will offer a mix of Latin-American and East Coast Italian deli-style foods and cocktails in a relaxed space with indoor seating and an outdoor covered patio. Think empanadas on one hand, meatballs on the other.

“We’re going to be offering charcuturie boards, cheese boards, and a lot of sandwiches,” said Jane. “We’re going to really focus on our cocktail program, too. The goal is not to be a high-end delicatessen but a well-thought-out one.”

Jane and Cervenka of Battle Born Hospitality are also the culinary force that resurrected Starboard Tack in 2017. It’s not known yet when they’ll have Bar Centrál ready for launch, but Jane estimates an opening in late 2024.
