Interactive dinner theater show Marriage Can Be Murder first opened more than twenty years ago. Producers and stars of the show Eric and Jayne Post have performed in locations including The Showboat, The Egg & I, and The D. Having found a new home in The Venue at the Orleans, with two separate performance areas and room for a bar, the pair are looking to develop the space into a hangout in its own right: shows, drinks, and food from the Posts’ culinary venture, Cabrisse Kitchen.

“Our mission statement is great food, great fun, great service,” Eric Post, who appears in the show as the “outlandishly eager” Lieutenant Post, told What Now Las Vegas on Wednesday. “It’s kind of a dream come true, with my love for food and making it good: not just feeding people but having people enjoy eating.”

Although Cabrisse Kitchen is not yet up-and-running, the successful show is already picking up where it briefly left off live performances during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We’re supposed to be doing four shows a week,” Post said. “Most weeks we’ve had five shows.”

Post described a series of setbacks with licensing, as well as upgrades to the kitchen, which once serviced an Italian restaurant but then sat unused for about five years, resulting in a slower-than-expected process for reaching its full vision. In the interim, the current Chef’s Tasting Menu, which includes Smoked Bourbon Brown Sugar Tri-Tip and Grilled Lemon Butter Chicken Breast, is currently being prepared elsewhere and catered in.

It’s not currently known when Cabrisse Kitchen, the bar, and Post’s pizza oven will be up-and-running, but the goal is to turn The Venue into a full-fledged hangout.

“I see it as a place to hang out, and an entertainment center also. It’ll be a place to come see a show, but also a place to come have a drink, order some apps,” said the dinner theater entrepreneur.

“It’s the most fun show in town,” Post added. “We don’t go underwater and we don’t paint ourselves blue, but it’s two hours of laughs.”
